Spoke up for Justice

Spoke Up For Justice is happening on Saturday 21st July. It’s a sponsored cycle around Strangford Lough. We’re asking you to cycle 82 miles and raise £82! There will be lots of food and fun along the way including lunch and a little celebration at the finish line. The money raised will enable NICRAS members and their families to spend a week in Corrymeela this summer. People who have experienced persecution in their homelands come to Northern Ireland from all over the world to seek asylum. Often they face poverty and social isolation here. The life of the refugee has been described as a “life of loss”. The week in Corrymeela brings them together with each other and with the Northern Irish community. It’s a rare opportunity for people to relax and enjoy a safe, neutral space with good food and fun activities. Often during the week people experience a forgotten sense of belonging and trust. Last year’s participants said, “Now I know that if I’m walking around Belfast I might meet someone who is my friend” and “This place is so peaceful, I can sleep better here”. It has become a highlight of the NICRAS year. The event will not happen this summer without our support, so please sign up.

The organisers would like to thank Tee and Toast for desiging our bespoke T-shirts and Faredos for providing food on the day.

It’s £20 to register for the event. Participants must register by Friday 13th July. On registration you will get a pack which includes a unique Spoke Up For Justice T-shirt, a map, safety information and advice on how to raise funds online. To register, please contact heather.hanna@btinternet.com or gemma@tullyroan.com
