Tullyroan Centenarian

Nanny with The Queen

You would think you would take it easy on your 100th Birthday. But then again it doesn't happen every day. So Nanny had three birthday celebrations over the course of the weekend. It was a great weekend, and all the family made it to church on time. For lots of photos, follow the link

Congratulations Caitlin and Adair

Adair and Caitlin

During a busy weekend in Tullyroan we learnt the wonderful news that Adair and Caitlin have announced their engagement. This made everyone very happy and none more so than Nanny Dalzell. The whole family wish them every success and happiness in their future life together.

UK Universities' Arena Polo Championships

Royal College of Surgeons' polo team

Cousin Fiona recently played with the Royal College of Surgeons' polo team at the UK Universities' Arena Championships in Somerset,  England. 94 teams competed over a 4 day period. It was quite an operation, complete with unbeatable facilities, horses and parties. Our news team was able to get some words from Fiona about the event:

"I must say I am very proud of our players who, having recently picked up the sport, represented their school, their profession and their country so well"

Welcome Finn Patrick Perrin Harty

Baby Finn

Congratulations to Hannah and Peter on the birth of Finn, born Friday 6th Feb 2009. It seems it's going to be a busy year for babies so it's wonderful to hear the first in line is born hale and harty!

The Tullyroan Proliferation

IMG_6664.jpg

Believe it or not, but this young lady will be next in line at the Bugaboo shop to purchase a chariot for the arrival of a little Steen in August. Time to put those suitcases in the attic Gems (unless you take some advice from the Hewitts, whose daughter has been to more continents than me). Your 'galavantin' will have to wait!
Whilst on the merry subject of arrivals, we look forward to meeting Finn Patrick Perrin Harty, born Feb 6th at 6pm, a healthy 8lb 7oz. Congratulations Peter and Hannah!

Eco-friendly Edinburgh Council

Edinburgh Castle Embankment Destruction

Hopefully the council have a post-invasion plan for the infrastructure of our lovely view of the castle and (former) wooded embankment...

Goodbye exams

10 years later, and I have managed to finish medical exams forever. It's a feeling to savour. My lasting memory of arriving in Edinburgh in 1999 is the distinctive smell of brewing hops, which somehow always became linked with my choosing to do medicine. Smell can be so evocative. Now I hope it will serve to remind me that perseverance brings its own reward.

Winter arrives at Kings Stables Road

kings_stables_tree.jpg

It's a weekend for hot drinks, warm blankets and weekend papers. Traffic was slow on Kings Stables following this felled tree in the high winds. As a young Ryan, fresh-faced student in Edinburgh, once said, "The wind would blow straight through you instead of around you!"
